Halloumi Crostini with Spiced Plum Compote
INGREDIENTS:
1 baguette
olive oil (we'll use about 1/4 cup maximum)
1 clove garlic
1 block halloumi, plain
water
sugar (a few tablespoons will suffice)
sea salt (just a pinch)
3 plums
3 pieces whole star anise (bulk barn, spice shop, Asian markets, etc.)
1 lemon
fresh mint, to garnish
You will neeed:
serrated knife (to slice baguette)
chef's knife (to chop plums, slice halloumi, etc)
cutting board
grill pan/stainless steel pan/non-stick pan (to grill bread)
assorted spoons/utensils
small saucepan (to cook plum compote)
cast iron skillet or heavy-bottom frying pan (to sear halloumi)
